Right HereRight HereA voice and a choice for our mental health

Being a young advisor to Right Here

What will I be doing?

  • Learning how to work with older adults on a UK-wide project.
  • Helping people understand the mental health and emotional needs of young people.
  • Helping older adults and other young people to think through where teenagers and young people like to go when they are feeling down, or stressed; who they like to be supported by, and what things help to improve how they are feeling.
  • Empowering other young people to have a voice in the projects that we support.
  • Helping adults and other young people to think through solutions to the challenges we might encounter with local projects across the UK.
  • Helping the Right Here evaluators to assess the progress of the projects across the UK.
  • Working with other young people, having your say, and being listened to by professionals who are committed to putting young people's needs first.

What will I get out of this?

  • Be part of a UK-wide youth panel.
  • Get your voice heard and make a difference.
  • Feel valued, respected and empowered.
  • Meet other young people with similar interests.
  • Have opportunities for accredited training and work experience.
  • Develop your skills and knowledge in young people's participation, presentation skills, media work and more.
  • Enjoy making a positive difference to the things you care about
  • Be rewarded for your participation and commitment.

What support will I get?

  • We will ensure that you have the appropriate training and support to carry out tasks and responsibilities that you are comfortable with. There is always the chance to opt out if you feel something is too demanding.
  • We will pay your travel expenses. If you require someone to come with you for support, like a friend, relative or support worker, their travel expenses will be paid also.
  • You will meet and get to know other young people from across the UK who have similar interests to you but perhaps come from a very different background.
