Young People

Young people in discussion: Collective Encounters, Pete Carr’s color photos

Through the journey of adolescence to adulthood, we recognise that young people need to be heard, valued and emotionally supported. It's important that this time is a positive experience, ensuring young people are as successful as they can be in the future.

You know what kind of support you want, where and how you would like it, during this time. Right Here works with you as equal partners giving you a voice in the services you use.

Right Here is an exciting 5-year project creating fresh ways of reducing stigma and finding original ways of ensuring that teenagers and young people are looking after their mental health.

With your help we are certain that Right Here can help to achieve this.

How to get involved

We want to involve young people aged 16-25 years from across the UK. We need young people who are passionate about having a voice and who are really enthusiastic about helping us to think through issues affecting young people.

We are looking for unique young people who are willing to give up some of their time to work in partnership with us to make sure that Right Here really helps to keep young people mentally healthy now and in the future.

There are 2 ways you can be involved:

1) Young person's expert advisory board

A group of 15 young people, aged between 16-25 have been selected, from across the UK and will meet in London every 4 months to help shape the Right Here project.

2) Virtual Group

A group of young people aged between 16-25 who will "meet" online only. Members will be consulted about decisions or ideas. Your views will then be shared with the expert advisory boards and the Right Here steering group. Find out more about the virtual group.

At the moment all the places on the advisory board are full. However the virtual group will have a continuous recruitment process so there will always be a way to have your say.

If members of the young person's expert advisory board do not wish to continue or do no longer wish to be a part of the board they will be replaced by members of the virtual group. So if you would be interested in joining the board please do join the virtual group, so that you are up to date with the project.

“Getting involved in making decisions about how things are done in order to make life better for other young people has been a really powerful experience.

I feel really proud to have made such a difference and learnt so many skills on the way too, which I can use in the future.”

Olliver, 17

Listen Up!

You told us you want more support early on, provided in ways that are flexible, informal and holistic.

You’ve also told us you’d like that support to be available from the places you’re using all the time, e.g schools, youth clubs and sports centres.
